Summer Term

April 17, 2015

Welcome back to the summer term.  It has been a fantastic week, it has been wonderful to have all the children playing on the field so early in the term.  I trust you all had a peaceful and relaxing Easter break- I am sure lots of chocolate was eaten!

This term is looking very busy already with Celebration Assembly today.  Such a huge achievement for all of our pupils in either receiving certificates for excellent learning or as a result of a good number of house points.  Keep up the good attitudes to learning and supporting each other at school.  We will also have Sports Day later this term and a selection of other events.  I will keep you updated on a weekly basis.

Yesterday we said 'Good-bye' to Mrs Cornes who has now retired from the school.  We had a very special 'Good-bye' assembly for her yesterday where she was presented with many cards, presents and flowers from everyone.  We all wish Mrs Cornes a very happy, fun filled retirement- I know she will be even busier.

Thank  you to all of you who supported and participated in our Easter Mass, it means a great deal to have you join us.  Next week we have Years 1, 3 and 4 leading the Mass on Thursday in the Church at 9.30am.  The theme of the Mass is 'St George's Day'.

Next week, years 5 and 6 have some training that links to being play leaders.  This is called Bronze Ambassador training- I am sure you will hear all about it.  It is very important to develop our children in the skills of leadership and so many of them are natural leaders.

As you are all aware the year 6 pupils will have their Standard Assessment Tasks in the week beginning the  11th May.  It is vital that the children are here during the week and in the run up to the week as Mrs Stevenson and the team are preparing the children for these tests.  They are working really hard and all making excellent progress and we want them to feel confident taking these tests.  If you need anymore information about the week please speak to Mrs Stevenson.
