Beautiful Harvest Mass

September 25, 2015

Message from Mrs Anderson…

Yesterday was a very special day with our Harvest Mass.  A big thank you to those who joined us for the Mass, it always makes it very special when family, friends and parishioners join us.  A huge well done to all of the children who lead us in prayer, readings, sang harvest songs and whole school hymns- the singing was beautiful.  Thank you for all the gifts of food that you contributed.

Many of you joined us for the refreshments and cake sale organized by years 3 and 4 following the Mass.  This was a huge success and all monies raised are being donated to CAFOD.  The money raised at the last count was over £180, that is absolutely fantastic- well done everyone.

Baby News

Great news, from the Reid family.  Mrs Reid gave birth to her twins late on Wednesday.  Mrs Reid and her twin girls are doing really well.  They weighed in at 2lb 10ozs and 2lb 4ozs- names to follow.  I know you will want to join us in congratulating Mr and Mrs Reid.

Safeguarding

Attached to this weeks newsletter is a Parent Survey linked to a Safeguarding review that we will be having at the school in October.  Please can we encourage you to complete the questionnaire and return it to the school by Monday 5th October.  Your views are really important to us, as we want to review and further develop our practices at St Paul’s.

School Meals

I wanted to remind you that ALL children in foundation, years 1 and 2 are entitled to universal infant free school meals.  This is an excellent initiative by the government.  There is always a good choice of school meals ranging from a specific main meal, vegetarian option, jacket potato and sandwich option.  For children in key stage 2 the meal is reasonably priced and is of very good quality meeting all of the food standards.  If you have any particular feedback in relation to the school meals please let us know so that we can feed this back to CaterEd, the meals provider.  They are eager for feedback.

Parents Lunch

Foundation parents joined their children for lunch on Tuesday- this was a wonderfully successful lunchtime.  Thank you for joining us for lunch- you will see some pictures below.  We aim to have some other opportunities for parents to join us at other times during the year, so watch this space.

PE Kit

A plea from all teachers… please can you ensure that your child/ren have their PE kit in school every day.  Physical Education is a key part of the primary curriculum and as a school we are expected that all children take part.  At St Paul’s we are committed to providing 2 hours of PE per week.  To do this it is vital that the children have their PE kit in school- we don’t want children making excuses from a young age as this area is always fun.  Exercise and fitness is so important in developing a healthy lifestyle from a young age, we hope this will stay with our children as they grow into young adults.

FOSP Meeting

We will be holding a Friends of St Paul’s (FOSP) meeting next week.  Please can we encourage existing members and any new parents/friends who would like to join to attend this meeting on Thursday 1st October at 4.30pm.  This is a great way to meet other parents- we will look forward to seeing you then.
