Term 4 and sunny days...

February 26, 2016

Message from Mrs Anderson…

Welcome back to you - I hope that you had a wonderful half term.  It was great to have some sunny days that we could enjoy with our families.

We have had a busy week in school, the children have been doing some excellent learning on their new themes.  We have also had plenty of visitors to the school, ranging from two headteachers from CAST schools in Cornwall, a group of teachers from Turkey who visited a year 5 lesson and a representative from the Cats Protection League who worked with all classes. The basketball team took part in a tournament this afternoon - I am sure there will be a report for the next newsletter.

I know that your children are very excited about World Book Day next Thursday and I have heard the discussions about what they intend to wear.  I am sure that they will all look amazing.  Mrs Potterton will be sending more information in relation to this- Thank you for all your hard work on this Mrs Potterton.  It is so important that our children have a love of books.

Parent Consultations

You will all have received a letter this week in relation to parent consultations that will be taking place next week and the week afterwards.  It is vital that everyone attends these parent meetings as you need to discuss your child’s progress, be aware of their current needs for their learning and most importantly be able to celebrate their achievements so far this academic year.  The teachers will be able to outline how you can help and support your child.  If for some reason you cannot make the allotted time please speak to your child’s class teacher as they will be very happy to reschedule.

Frances, our lollipop lady…

It is with sadness that I have to let you know that Frances will no longer be our lollipop lady.  She resigned from post this week, due to the sudden tragic loss of her daughter.  As a result of this Frances and her husband will be taking over the full time care of their grandson Martin.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the whole family at this time.

Staffing update…

Year 4: Miss Maunder has had a successful operation on her broken leg.  She has been into school this week and met the children again.  Miss Brown has been covering her this week and doing an excellent job- she will be teaching them until next Wednesday to secure consistency.  Miss Maunder will be taking over fully on Thursday once she has the hard cast on her leg.  Thank you for your support during this period of time it has been the school’s priority to maintain stability as much as possible.  On behalf of the staff and governors I would like to welcome Miss Maunder to our team.

Parent View…

Once again please can I urge you to access the Ofsted website and complete the survey on parent view for the school. The address is www.parentview.ofsted.gov.uk  This is a very short survey and will not take very long to complete but gives us key feedback on the school. Thank you.

Safeguarding your children…

If there is a change in collection arrangements for your child it is really important to let your child’s class teacher know of the change.  This is still important for upper key stage 2 children as we need to know who they are going home with on a daily basis.

Ear-rings- You are all aware of the school uniform policy and expectation that is in the school prospectus.  We clearly state that if children have their ears pierced that they can only wear small studs, it is not acceptable for them to wear large studs, hoops or dangly earrings. It is the school priority to keep your children safe, whether this is in lesson time, play time or PE sessions.  If children do not wear the correct earrings they will have to have their ears covered with micropore tape.  Please can you support us with this.
