Excitement all around...

Last week was a fantastic week at St Paul's with so many wonderful experiences for our children. All classes were welcomed back to the summer term and the new themes of their learning explored. It's wonderful to see such a range from Space in foundation, to Pirates in years 1 and 2, to Rainforests in years 3 and 4 up to Pirates in years 5 and 6. The children are very motivated by these themes and so eager to share their learning.

It was great to welcome Miss Maunder to year 4, she is teaching the class while Mrs Chapman is on maternity leave. We also have Miss Endicott in foundation at the moment due to the absence of Mrs Pope- we hope she is soon better. We were also able to welcome Miss Gard who is on her final teaching practice in year 2. All new members of staff have settled into the team.

Children were involved in a range of sporting events last week, some children in year 1 and 2 represented the school at a multi skills event at Notre Dame. They all had a wonderful time. Birmingham Royal Ballet came into school on Thursday and led some workshops with the year 3, 4 and 5 children. All of the children fully engaged with this opportunity despite some rumblings from a few boys the day before! The feedback from all of the children was very positive and something that we will want to repeat. Following on from this a group of children went to the ballet on Saturday afternoon to see Romeo and Juliet- once again this was a superb experience for them. It was wonderful watching their reactions to the ballet.

On Sunday the basketball team accompanied by Miss Hill went to the final tournament of the season at The Pavilions. They had an afternoon full of excitement, passion and sheer determination. They played a further four games with other Primary schools. The results were collated from the whole season and St Paul's came second- A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO THEM ALL. Considering this was their first season this was a huge achievement. To mark the end of the season a group of children will be attending a 'Shoot-Out' on Friday afternoon. I know they will love that experience.

Clubs have started again this week, there is a good range of clubs for a range of interests- if your child/ren want to attend please can you ensure the consent forms are returned as soon as possible.
