22nd January Update
January 22, 2016
The term is progressing very quickly with the children being involved in many exciting sporting events. Today some of our children are attending a Basketball tournament. We are seeing much wonderful learning on Space, Pirates and the Mayan Civilisation across the school. I hope you are all looking at your classes website page to see what they are learning, these will be updated regularly. The website address is www.stpaulsplymouth.com. If you feel we need to add anymore information to the website please let me know, you can email me on firstname.lastname@example.org
As I have said before there is a section on the Ofsted website for parents to express their views on their child’s school. Please can we encourage you to visit this site and share your views on the school (Ofsted site- Parent view).
A huge congratulations to the twelve year 1 and 2 children who represented our school at a Multi skills event at Stoke Damerel . Our team did amazingly well coming 2nd out of 9 schools. Every child demonstrated great teamwork, determination and resilience. A special mention to Alysa who won the overall ‘sportmanship’ award. We are very proud of you all.
It was a privilege to take seven year 5 and 6 children to Marjons to take part in the High 5’s Netball Tournament. After a disappointing start, we gradually grew stronger as a team and worked hard to listen to tips and feedback from Claire to finally win our last game. I’m so unbelievably proud of the determination that they showed. The children were fantastic ambassadors for St Paul’s and the progress they made in their skill and ability during the games was superb. Well done to all of them.
Some of you may be aware that sadly Mrs Wood has not been at school since the beginning of the term. Sadly her mum passed away during the Christmas holiday. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and the family and we look forward to her return.
Mrs Chapman is still unwell and will not return before Friday 29th January. There are no problems with the baby solely complications with the pregnancy. I will keep you all fully updated of this situation. Mrs Carlisle is doing a wonderful job teaching the class in her absence working very closely with Mrs Foweraker and Mrs Nash. We will be interviewing for the maternity cover early next week. Once we have this in place we will introduce you to the new member of staff.
I am sure all of your children will or have enjoyed the film tonight. The children have been very excited about the school being a cinema today. Thank you to FOSP for organising the film and all of the refreshments.
Please join us for the following school masses, Thursday 28th January- Bishop Marks Anniversary will be a key stage 2 Mass and the following week, Thursday 4th February is Candlemass, this will be a whole school Mass.
Thank you to years 3 and 4 who led the Mass this week on Miracles.
