Anti-bullying and e-safety week

We are all hoping that you had a safe and fun weekend with Bonfire night. The children were all very excited about seeing the fireworks when they left school on Thursday. This half term looks to be very busy with focus weeks, visits and visitors coming to school.

The core value that we will be focusing on as a school this term is independence, how this links to our social, emotional and academic development.

Anti-bullying and e-safety week… save the dates!

Next week will be anti-bullying and e-safety week for the school, we have a focus week every autumn term together with these areas linking to everything we do at St Paul’s. Each class will carry out learning linked to these areas across the course of the week. We would like to share the learning with you on the Friday afternoon so that your children can express what they have found out. The open afternoons will start at 2.30pm in each class (main doors will open at 2.25pm).

We will also be having a parent workshop on bullying this year- we encourage you all to join us for this session. It will be on Tuesday 15th November at 6pm in the school hall. This will be an informative session and also interactive, please support us with this.

Please can I remind you that if your child is unwell, it is vital to ring the school by 9.15 so that we know they will not be in. If children do not arrive and there is no telephone call we will automatically make contact to ensure that your children are safe. We have to enter the reason why children are not in school and if no reason is given this has to be counted as unauthorised, which is not good for your child, or for us as a school.

Currently attendance rates are quite good so we need to maintain this. We are striving for 96% attendance as a minimum by the end of the year- please help us.

Remembrance Mass…

Please join the whole school for ‘Remembrance Mass’ on Thursday at 9.30am. The staff, children and community love having you join us for these special times.

The Military Kids Club would like to invite you back to school afterwards for refreshments in the hall.

Healthy snacks...

As you are all aware we are trying to promote healthy snacks at morning break time. This is something that we are fully committed to as it is vital to support our young children and make them consider the importance of healthy snacks and lifestyle choices. This links to the work that the School Council and Youth Parliament reps have been considering linked to all the Plymouth Thrive work. The children have discussed eating healthy snacks and feel that it is really important that they eat healthy snacks, thus reducing the amount of sugar, fats and salt that they are eating.

Attached to this letter is a sheet that outlines an enormous range of healthy snacks- these will be allowed at play times together with fruit and vegetables.

If there is a medical reason that your child can only eat something else, then please can you provide a medical letter showing this, so that we can ensure all staff are aware.

Thank you for your support with this. We are going to get some healthy snacks that the children can buy in school if that makes things easier for you.

Open Afternoon...

On Monday 21st November at 2pm we will be having our ‘Annual Open Afternoon’ for prospective new parents to our school. We will be sending a flier out advertising it this week but would appreciate you letting any potential new families know the details. If you would like any of the fliers to share with people please see Mrs Clark in the office- thank you.
