Advent is here...

What an exciting time of year we have entered, with the first Sunday of Advent last weekend. The children were very excited yesterday with advent calendars, Christmas decorations and trees going up in school. Such a magical and special time.

This evening will see the start of the festive period with the school Christmas Fair- please come and join us. There will be lots of fun things to do for all ages!

As you are all aware Mrs Potterton will be leaving us at Christmas to take up her promotional move in the City. Mrs Chikola who is a very experienced teacher will be joining our team teaching the year 3 children. Many of you already know her as she has taught several classes across the school. During the spring term, you will still see Mrs Potterton in school on a Wednesday, as she will be continuing to do some development work with the team which is superb.

Don’t miss this enlightening e-safety workshop for parents…

We have an enlightening digital native/e-safety session for parents/grandparents next week. This session is on Tuesday 6th December at 2.15pm- please join us for this session as it will be very informative. It is being taken by experts from South West Grid for Learning, the safety of your children on the internet is critical. The parents who attended last year felt this was a hugely beneficial session last year and requested another.

Festive events…

As we have started the festive period you have all had the dates for the various performances and Carol Services that your children will be leading. Please get these dates in your diary so you don’t miss these special times.

Chilly days…

As the weather has suddenly become very cold please can you ensure your children have their school jumper/cardigan in school and a warm coat. Several children have been coming to school this week without jumpers and have been really cold. It is vital that they have enough layers to keep them warm at this time of year.

Parent survey…

Thank you to you and your children for completing the parent/pupil surveys and returning them to us. We will be analysing the surveys shortly and will feedback our findings to you. The ‘Parent Advisory Group’ will be looking at them in the spring term.

Year 6 ‘Holy Boy’...

A huge congratulations to the group of year 6 pupils who represented the school on Sunday. They joined with children from St Joseph’s and Keyham Barton in singing ‘Holy Boy’ at the Cathedral. It was a beautiful performance by the pupils, made really special by the support of our families and friends. An enormous well done to Ben, Bryony, Callum, Darcie, Ellie, Korey, Ruby, Tobe and Rhys- you represented the school brilliantly, we were all very proud of you.

Term dates…

With the final newsletter of the term you will find the school dates for 2017/18.
