Good-bye and happy holidays!
What an amazing year we have had at St Paul’s, many exciting achievements by all of our staff and children. The children have all had a very rich year of learning across the school. They have all really developed their learning behaviours and we have children who are much more resilient learners. It will be wonderful seeing this develop as we move into the next academic year.
There are a few thank you’s that I want to make as we end the year and start the summer break. I want to take this opportunity to ‘Thank’ the amazing team at St Paul’s who can always be relied upon to give their full to ensure the best learning for your children. They are a wonderfully committed team who go from strength to strength. I would also like to express our ‘Thanks’ to you, our families and friends who support us in all we do, without this partnership the school would not be growing in strength. The biggest ‘Thank you’ goes to our fantastic young people who give 100% all of the time- I hope that they all have a wonderful summer holiday, they deserve it.
I cannot believe we are about to say Goodbye to our wonderful year 6 class- they are definitely ready for their next stage of their education. It has been a week full of special moments, their performance of Grease, the Leavers Assembly, our Leavers Mass and tonight our Leavers BBQ. Such an emotional time for everyone but with it a very exciting time. On behalf of the staff and governors I would like to wish each and every one of them every success with their secondary education- they will all flourish.
We have a few Good-byes to make at the end of this term. They include Mr Couch who leaves us now with the year 6 class. He has been a valued member of the team in the two years he has been with us and we wish him all the best with his new venture. A temporary ‘Good-Bye’ to Mrs Barnes who is leaving us to have her twins in the autumn term. We wish her the best of luck in getting some sleep and much fun with the new additions to her family- I am sure that Mr and Mrs Barnes, together with Jack will be very busy!
Some general reminders and updates in preparation for the new school year. Please can you ensure that your children return to school with the correct uniform, PE kit and footwear. It is not acceptable for your children to be wearing trainers, this is not school uniform. If you are unsure of the uniform please refer to the website, www.stpaulsplymouth.com.
Parking in the church- Please can we remind you that the space inside the church grounds is not for parking before or after school. This is solely for the use of people who are there on church business. It also creates an additional risk to our children when they are walking to school and using Bishops Walk- please support us with this.
Dates for the Diary:
We return to school on Monday 4th September so please put this date on your calendar or telephones. On Saturday 9th September- it is Education Sunday, please can you hold this date as this is a very special Mass in the church. We encourage the staff and children to attend this service, it is extremely special as it is at the beginning of the school year and brings us all together. The service will be at the normal time of 5.30pm.
I hope that your children are feeling relaxed and prepared for their new year when you read this letter. It was lovely to welcome Mr Owen, Miss S Hill and Miss Atterbury to the team this week. It is so important for the children to know who they will be learning with in the new year. The team have planned a transition unit for each class all about ‘Film’. This will be a very exciting unit for the children and I am sure they will want to carry out some home learning linked to it over the summer. Don’t forget your children can also access, Literacy Planet, Times Tables Rock Stars and sites like Hit the button- these will all help in reinforcing their learning. Most importantly enjoy the wonderful part of the world we live in.
On behalf of all of the staff we would like to wish you all a wonderful summer holiday, let’s hope the sun shines and you can enjoy a summer of relaxation with your families and friends. We will look forward to welcoming everyone back on the 4th- ready for the new school year.
