Wishing you a happy and holy Christmas

December 18, 2017

What an amazing two weeks we have had with so many exciting events taking place in school linked to Advent and our Christmas festivities. The children and staff all had a fun filled Christmas dinner day and all looked super festive wearing their festive jumpers! We would like to say a massive thank you to the catering team for providing such a high quality meal for everyone.  It was absolutely delicious- thank you Sandra, Karen and Nina.

A huge well done and congratulations to our Foundation and Key Stage 1 children for their outstanding performance in their nativity.  ‘The Little Star’ performance was very special and all of the children took part brilliantly- it is always wonderful seeing our young children perform.  We all noticed the emotional parents and grandparents!

Next week, we will look forward to seeing you all for KS2 Carol Service in the school hall.  The doors will open at 1.30pm ready for a 2pm start.  FOSP will be selling refreshments before the start.  You will all really enjoy it as the singing is beautiful.

The Children should have brought home today the Term dates for September 2018/ July 19, you will see that there is still one day to be allocated in term 2.  This will be sorted in the next term and once it is finalised we will send you the final dates for the year.

Common Sense Media:  Common Sense Media reviews books, movies, TV shows, video games, apps, music, and websites and rates them in terms of age-appropriate educational content, positive messages/role models, violence, sex and profanity, and helps parents in making media choices for their kids. Common Sense Media has also developed a set of ratings that are intended to gauge the educational and safety value of videos, games, and apps. The "Learning Ratings" attempt to assess different types of learning qualities within various forms of media.

On Monday afternoon, Year 3 and 4 had a visitor in class linked our festivities theme. Chen Jing taught the children how to count from 0-10 in Mandarin and how to correctly use chopsticks. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning a new language and a new skill.

Sports: We have had a very busy term of sports across the whole school. KS2 have enjoyed taking part in fortnightly football tournaments at Goals, the children have built up their skills over the past few weeks culminating in our first win of the season against Oreston last week. Children from Years 4,5, and 6 have also taken part in an indoor athletics events where they competed against all the other Catholic Primary schools in the city. The children did a fantastic job taking part in activities such as the speed bounce, triple jump and obstacle course. Children from Year 2 have also recently taken part in a multi skills event at Notre Dame, they thoroughly enjoyed the event and were a credit to our school with excellent behaviour all afternoon.

Epiphany Mass-  We would love to welcome you all to our Epiphany Mass on Thursday 11th January at 9.15am.  Following the mass we would like to invite you all back to the school to see the cribs the children have made as part of ‘Cribfest’.  There will be refreshments on offer at this time.
