Snow fun...

March 9, 2018

Message from Mrs Anderson…

What an eventful two weeks we have had, the excitement of snow days last week.  It was truly magical in school on the Wednesday when the snow arrived, children in foundation and key stage 1 could not believe what they were seeing having never seen for themselves before.  The experience of going out into the snow was superb and it was great to hear of their experiences, building snowmen, snowball fights etc. I must admit I was glad when it started to melt as I could not get out for 3 days.  Thank you for your support in collecting your children so swiftly on the day, it enabled us to ensure all staff got home safely too.

This week has brought magical days in different ways… from hearing about the snow days, to seeing the children dressed up for World Book day and coming back to school for Books at Bedtime and Film Night.  These times are the experiences that make their education rich and varied. There will be many photos of your children on their school website pages taking part in a range of fun learning on World Book Day.  Got to www.stpaulsplymouth.com

Thank you to the staff and FOSP for organising all of these special events, none of this would be possible without their enthusiasm and commitment.

Parent Consultations:

If you missed parent consultations due to the snow, we anticipate that you should have a rescheduled slot now to see your teachers.  If not, please can you make sure that you let us know so that this can be arranged swiftly? It is crucial that you meet with your child’s class teacher so that you know what they are doing well, areas to develop and how you can support.

Celebration Assemblies…

Date for your diary, the key stage Celebration Assemblies will be on Friday 23rd March, letters will come out next week in relation to this.

Please help us…

At times there will be incidences between the children at school, it is vital that we know about these so that the school staff can deal with them quickly.  We encourage the children to speak out but sometimes they will need your support with this. We would like you to direct your children straight to us in school and not be tempted to deal with this yourselves as this can cause some tensions.  Your child’s class teacher should always be the first person to speak with about an issue- if you cannot get into see them, please ring or email them directly, all email addresses are on the school website.

Punctuality…

A polite reminder that children need to be at school 8.45am, gates open at 8.40 promptly.  They have early morning tasks that are ready for them to access on entry together with time to mix with friends.  Punctuality is really important and a skill for life that we need to develop with our young children. Thank you for your support with this.
