Year 1

Miss Strong, Mrs Claire, Mrs Carol, Mrs Holloway and Mrs Reid welcome you to Year 1!

Welcome back to the third term of Year 1! We are so excited to start the new year with you. 

This term, our topic is 'Blast Off.' We will be learning about the history of space travel and significant individuals who have contributed to this. 

In English, we are looking at a non fiction text 'How rockets really work.'

In Maths, we will be learning how to add and subtract. We will also be learning about place value up to 50. 

Year 1 updates


 - Our PE days are Monday and Friday, please ensure children have a labelled PE kits in school. 

 - Afternoon snack is not part of our routine in Year One. Children are reminded before lunch time to ensure they eat enough to see them through a busy afternoon. Break time snack is provided by school. 

 - Please ensure children have water bottles in school to ensure they stay hydrated. Water bottles are cleaned and refilled daily if you wish to leave it in class.

Term 2 - Plymouth on a Postcard

We went to the Tamar Bridge to explore our local surroundings. We created sketches and visited the education centre. 

We have been using ICT equipment to improve our maths skills. 

We went to the church to explore. We were able to discuss key features of the church and have a closer look at things that interest us.

We made our own Traction Man stories. 

We made mini superheroes using a variety of materials
